Lisa De Angelis

“[She is] the creator of sultry, intriguing country music songs … De Angelis is a performer of captivating powers, as anyone who has seen her play live can attest. She is an artist dedicated to creating pieces of magic, whether recorded or on stage, and it is difficult not to be enchanted” - Sunburnt Country Music

Lisa De Angelis makes cowboy music for city slickers. This five-foot firecracker’s show is as close as you'll get to a tent revival this side of Kentucky: vulnerable, masterful lyricism, rowdy sing alongs and fast-paced, no-holds anecdotes coupled with De Angelis' signature frenetic finger-picked guitar style. The swampy blues of The Black Keys meets the old-time country stylings of Sierra Ferrell in De Angelis’ signature sound: swaggering, honest Americana music.

After a failed romance left her stranded overseas, sleeping in train stations and on buses in both North America and Europe, De Angelis settled back home in Australia and taught herself to play guitar in 2017. She graduated from The CMAA’s prestigious ‘Academy of Country Music’ in 2019 and since then has toured with and opened shows for some of Australia’s best, including Steve Kilbey (The Church), Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), The Audreys, Nathan Cavaleri, Amber Lawrence, James Blundell, Hayley Jensen, Catherine Britt and Melody Moko. De Angelis has played major Australian music festivals including Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Gympie Music Muster, and made her TCMF Main Stage debut in 2024.

De Angelis’ songs have garnered airplay on ABC Country, CMT and KIX Country Radio, and her song ‘My Sister’s Blue Suitcase’ was named a semi-finalist in the 2024 International Songwriting Competition. She graduated from the AIR’s 2023 ‘Women In Music’ mentorship program under the guidance of ARIA Award-winner Fanny Lumsden, and - despite suffering profound, permanent hearing loss in one ear in 2022 that wiped out her plans for the next 9 months - that same year played over 100 shows.

Scrappy, vulnerable and heartfelt, 'part Judy Garland, part Saturday Night Live comedian' on stage, Lisa De Angelis hails from southwest Sydney and cut her musical teeth in the south of the United States. Her debut album - recorded and co-produced by De Angelis and her partner Paul Bain (Travis Collins, Kirsty Lee Akers) in their private studio in Brisbane - is due for release in late 2024.
